There are some things that won’t change, like gravity, sunrise / sunset, increasing taxes & sand in the Sahara. But when things seem uncertain or there’s instability around us, we want something stable, solid, predictable and reliable.
Maybe it would be helpful to keep our trust in “certain” things, stuff that doesn’t change. For example, regardless of how we feel, the circumstances around us, surprises or mishaps, God’s love for you doesn’t change. In addition, regardless of who is in your life or who is missing, God is ever present and never abandons you. And let’s never forget that God is working out things for your benefit, as you stay in love with God & true to God’s purpose in your life, based on Romans 8:28 🙂
Let’s not allow ourselves to get unsettled or rattled by various uncertainties in life because God is very certain, faithful and loving toward us!
It seems to me that we can sometimes struggle when there’s uncertainty in our lives. Having travelled a fair amount, I’ve seen a wide spectrum of uncertainty, from war ravaged uncertainty (clean water, reliable food, etc) to the uncertainty of getting to work on time because of unexpected traffic challenges. It seems to me that our human existence will always have varying degrees of uncertainty – so maybe the issue for us isn’t about escaping uncertainty but rather how to effectively deal with it.
Here are a few helpful ideas:
be stable on the inside regardless of what happens externally – the peace of Jesus guarding our hearts & minds sounds about right (Phil 4:7)
chose wisely what you allow your mind to focus on – instability breeds instability (Phil 4:6)
remember that our Heavenly Father is changeless, faithful & stable, more than the rising sun every day 🙂
