Once Jesus rose from the dead, I think the disciples maybe had less anxiety for a few reasons. And maybe we could pick up a few pointers that could be helpful, since anxiety could be a challenge for a few of us.
Jesus raising from the dead changed the game because death didn’t get the final say – and nothing is impossible in our lives!
Jesus is in the future – this helps me to relax knowing that Jesus is timeless
Jesus is about the individual & not only the masses – the Prince of Peace was intentional to seek out individual encounters to resolve questions, doubts & reconciliation.
Both of my parents have given me lots of great wisdom on how to live, how to be a good wife, mom & human. And here’s some wisdom my dad gave me about being effective in the ministry for a long time. My dad told me that if a person wanted to last & do a great job in ministry work, they need to be mindful of three things:
*doctrine – flakey doctrine will side swipe you & cause you to become ineffective
*morals – remain happily married to your spouse or stay pure as a single person
*money – dont mishandle the money people give you for ministry.
The quickie version my dad would use was: be careful with the gold, glory & girls. Seems like timeless wisdom to me 🙂
Even though this is a short entry, it is really powerful:
I have this habit that I do almost every morning – I thank God for all of the cool things that happened during the previous day. I love getting to do this because it’s a great way to enter God’s presence (I will enter His courts with thanksgiving in my heart). But here’s the latest challenge I’ve been sensing from God: real-time gratitude. Instead of waiting for my gratitude to expressed during my morning routines, I feel that God is challenging me to be grateful in the moment & not just the morning. So I find myself being more thankful as an attitude in my day and not just in the morning prayer time “compartment”. As as result, I feel that I’m more content, happy and buoyant. As a concluding thought, another idea is to pre-thank the answers, solutions and provisions that God has for us (ahead of time). Now that would be a total lifestyle of gratitude (past, present & future). Just a little food for thought 🙂
