Traveling Tips

This week, I have a lot of traveling & I would suggest that these tips below can also be helpful throughout our journey in life:

  • Less is more:  I don’t need as much as I think & I don’t like carrying unnecessary things.
  • Security for safety:  human security is never as powerful as divine security.
  • Flexible keeps things fun:  hold lightly to your plans.
  • Wonderful people watching:  consider that God enjoys watching us because God is Love!

take my hand

I’ve been thinking a little bit about walking hand in hand with Jesus and then I read this morning in Ps 73:23 that God holds my hand.  This feels really soothing, safe, assuring and secure to think that Jesus holds my hand.  Then I also remembered that when Peter was drowning from his water walking experiment, Jesus reached out His hand and rescued Peter.  Finally, I was also thinking about how the angels took Lot by the hand when he lingered in Sodom when God was ready to obliterate this city.  The stories of Peter drowning & Lot lingering show me that God is personal enough to take my hand to keep me from drowning in various storms & to keep me from being destroyed by my own stupidity.

Thankfully, Jesus takes us by our hand, day by day & moment by moment 🙂

a helpful secret

We all get put into situations that aren’t comfortable for us: conversations that make us squirm, meeting people who are intimidating, tasks that seem impossible given our skill set, expectations to which we never agreed, etc.  There are a myriad of things that can make us uncomfortable & each person is unique with those discomforts.  Despite our individuality, I can propose a solution for these struggles that has universal application:  prayer 🙂

For me, prayer isn’t just the requests I make to God or the quiet time I spend in the morning, although these are most certainly very necessary expressions of prayer.  Here’s my secret:  when I get put into difficult situations or crazy conversations, etc, I take a pause moment in my heart & turn to God.  I listen & watch for some Divine input & without any surprise, God shows up.  Often, I’ll receive some helpful wisdom, sometimes I receive comfort & at other times, I seem to be more settled & secure so that the situation isn’t such a stress.

Prayer can be many things, including the inward turning or opening to God 🙂
