reflections

celebrate the past :)

Now that we’ve come through the Christmas season, it seems like its common to reflect on the various events of 2011 & with this reflection, you might find yourself taking a longer trip down memory lane.  Maybe you remember some of your failures & shortcomings (times when you hurt someone or tried something new that turned out awful).  Or better, maybe you remember some of your past victories & successes (like seeing John Elway on the Bronco’s sideline watching Tim Tebow).  Perhaps you remember some of the pains that have happened to you from the past (letting that forgiveness exercise continue to work through you).  Whatever our past has been, with failures, pains & successes, its good to celebrate the past.  Such celebration is important so that we don’t get trapped in thinking that our past is better than our future, nor quagmired in the error that our past controls our present.  Furthermore, celebrating our past is a great way to acknowledge that we all change, grow & get better.  While I may not be where I want to be in my life, at least I’m not where I was ,)

God Helps Us

Today we had the privilege of meeting some really great & totally fun pre-schoolers, as well as some great moms looking after their babies who we are helping. One of the things that I’m wrestling with is the moms that I’m meeting who have lost babies. The majority of the moms whom I’ve met have lost anywhere from 3-10 babies. When I began to discover this, it simply takes my breath away because I can’t imagine how a mom processes such losses. When you meet the majority of these moms, you wouldn’t know that they’ve endured such tragedies. So as we are now taking a bit of a drive, I’m writing this blog & trying to talk w God about this and to let the Trinity help my heart. I will think & pray for a bit now.

some random thoughts

my daughter has finally grown into the skirt & jacket my brother bought her 2 years ago – she’s really beautiful & very confident!

my son, Benji & i did a butt black yesterday.  translation:  we got on an expert ski run by accident & slid down on our butts

David & I had a “walking home together” date.  We discussed his friends, different books he’s read & kicking rocks

Reece & i took Benji skiing yesterday – he let me sleep in the car on the way home.  very peaceful!

Some spiritual thoughts / considerations floating through my mind of late:

  • when i feel cold-blooded, i look for the Son to get warm
  • contentment is internal & not external – so they say
  • God has life for me underneath the frustrations, worries & cares that will change tomorrow
  • doing is a consequence of being
  • I’m made to be w God

I’ve also been thinking about Jesus’ parable related to living a productive life, so i’ll be blogging on that over the next few days.  keep your eyes peeled!
