In preschool, my kids sang a song about the wheels on the bus going round & round; the horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep; the wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish . . . . I thought it was a stupid song because it was mundane & didn’t really have anything catchy about it. But my kids are teenagers now & I’m still singing “the wheels on the bus”, so there must be something sticky to the song or I’d not be humming the tune mindlessly on any given day.
And the truth be known, I find myself humming this tune when I get stressed out about a situation or get panicky about what the future might look like. This song reminds me that Jesus is incarnate & left us with the Holy Spirit who keeps the wheels on my bus spinning round & round so I can continue to move forward with God’s plan for my life.
A schmaltzy tune & very mundane reminding me of God’s very daily & integrated presence into my earthy existence 🙂
