Mother’s Day

Preparing for Mother’s Day

On Sunday, we celebrate the annual holiday, Mother’s Day. For lots of people, this is a wonderful day to remember the great care, nurture, sacrifices & relationships with their moms. And for other peeps, this holiday pokes a wound to remind them who their moms were not. So this holiday has a wide spectrum of reaction in consideration of our upbringing.
But more importantly, let’s be committed to the truth that God is our Heavenly Father, as reveled & confirmed to us by Holy Spirit, based on Romans 8:16. Let’s be certain that we honor our earthly moms but let’s live from the reality that we are the sons & daughters of our Heavenly Father. In this truth, we have our true identity, genuine love, unlimited power, eternal life, infinite resources & grace beyond the sky. Happy Mother’s Day!

A cheap but meaningful gift

With Mothers Day coming up this weekend, it frequently reminds of me about being generous & giving meaningful gifts. However, not all of us have access to resources to get some WAY cool gifts. So here’s a really wonderful gift that is extremely meaningful but not pricey: listening 🙂
Listening is a great gift because its wholesome, it gives respect & honor, it also means that you are present with then other person & that’s an awesome gift! So lets be generous & listen 🙂

a tribute to my mom

Since it’s Mother’s Day, it seems fitting to celebrate our moms & their various contributions to our lives.  My mom invests in my life in a multitude of different ways, but something that I always appreciate about her is the power of routine.  Despite lots of travels & massive demands on her schedule, my mom is very consistent with her routines.  She consistently exercises, makes healthy eating decisions, memorizes the Bible everyday and maintains healthy sleeping patterns.  My mom is the Queen of Routine.  And here’s what is so powerful about the whole routine thing, she’s done this for almost all of my life.  So when people ask me about my mom & the secret to her success, of course God is the number one source for all success, but I’d quickly add that her consistent routines throughout the years have positioned her for the successful living she enjoys today.

So here’s my closing thought:  let’s make the routines of our daily living conform to our priorities 🙂

musings about mother’s day

Mothers are intersting creatures.  Since becoming a mother, i’ve come to see things from 2 sides – both as an offspring & as a mother.  Right now, i live in the “high-octane” middle of both worlds (as i sit here writing, my little men are wrestling w my big man, while Isabell designs her new bank savings box).  I am fully offspring, in that i work pretty closely w my mom & i’m quite thoroughly integrated w care for & interaction with my kids.  Consequently, Mother’s Day is the collision of significant portions of my life.

In the fullest sense of the word, Mother’s Day is designed to celebrate life.  I say this because there’s not a single one of us that doesn’t have a mother (dead or alive).  Mothers (and Fathers – but we’ll celebrate Father’s Day next month) are significant conduits through which God gives us the gift of life and life is very good.  May your Mother’s Day be filled w gratitude to God for His gift of life and gratitude for our mothers & the things they’ve invested in our lives.  Happy Mother’s Day!
