Heavenly Father

Weak Coffee

My dad used to say, “Weak coffee makes you sick.”  So whenever I can see through coffee, it reminds me of my dad & his helpful observations 🙂

Let’s also think about our Heavenly Father & His helpful observations, particularly about each of us. Here are some of God’s observations that can help us today:

  • God sees you through the lens of genuine love.
  • God says that nothing in your life is impossible.
  • God has peace for your soul no matter what’s happening around you.

I’d encourage you to listen to God’s observations during this day & you’ll be very encouraged!

wool socks

I have a friend & our feet are always cold, so we give each other wool socks.  In Denver today, it’s cold so we are both celebrating our warm feet because of the gracious gift of wool socks!  I have another friend who wears flip flops in Denver even when it snows, almost.  This friend doesn’t have a cold feet problem but maybe has the opposite end of the spectrum.  I totally love both of these peeps & I love that they see and experience life through different lenses, each vibrantly beautiful & wholesome.

This makes me appreciate our Heavenly Father all the more for His immense and unique love for each one of us.  We don’t have to match up to a marketing profile to be loved by God.  Indeed, it seems to me that we are most thoroughly loved by our Heavenly Father as we revel in His unique design for us individually.  Based on Romans 5:5, you are fully loved by your Heavenly Father, full stop.  The Holy Spirit can help you live in this reality day by day 🙂

hot topic: Father’s Day

This weekend in America, we celebrate Father’s Day.  It’s a day when we honor our fathers & express our appreciation for their sacrifices & input in our lives.  Not everyone, however, grew up with warm fuzzies for their dads & there are many people who don’t like their dads & many who don’t even know who their dads are or were.  So sometimes, we’re conflicted with the premise of honoring our dads & acknowleding the reality of who they are or are not.  Holidays like Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc when we’re around our family, can be a little tricky.  So perhaps these ideas can be helpful:

  • honoring our parents is important based on the Ten Commandments;  even if you have parents who are dishonorable, choosing to honor them is the high road & ultimately a more healthy decision than dishonor (an internal decision versus an external achievement)
  • all humans are flawed, full stop
  • remember that ultimately God is your Heavenly Father & that you’re fearfully & wonderfully made in the image of your Heavenly Father
  • Help:  holidays that have tricky family navigation challenges for us will often cause us to pray and ask God for help – which is always good;  doing life without God’s Help isn’t good 🙂

happy Father’s Day!
