Because I’m Happy

I really like the Pharrell Williams song, “Happy” because it’s perky, fun, bright & upbeat! Whenever it plays, it cracks me up & makes me smile big! While I totally love this song, I let it remind me that my happiness isn’t only based on my surroundings, or the events around me. Rather, my happiness is based more on my decisions & choices I make with my thinking. Clearly, Pharrell Williams song “Happy” can be really helpful, but let’s remember that our happiness is internally moderated more than externally manipulated 🙂

to make you smile

Happy day to you!  I’ve been back from South Sudan for a week, so I’m happily sleeping through the night, I enjoyed immensely the time with my family last week, with the 4th of July holiday break and I’m happy to say that my digestion is doing well, after having experienced some interesting adventures.  So that’s all really good because on Sun, we fly to Cambodia for 1.5 weeks 🙂

I also want to give you some encouragement today & hopefully make you smile a bit.  Here are few attempts at these goals:

  • seeing the good that’s happening around us is often a choice of focus
  • sometimes we go through good seasons & sometimes we go through some not so good seasons – the good news is that we keep going ,)
  • drink lots of water – it keeps you healthy, chirpy & perky ,)
  • thankfully, God’s still in charge, no matter what’s happening around us
  • what do you call a rabbit with fleas?  Bugs bunny 😀

some happy thoughts

As I was helping a friend yesterday, she really encouraged me with a few things that could also be helpful to you, particularly if you’re in a rough season.  One of the 1st things she said to me asked me about was the beautiful day that we were having – this immediately adjusted my focus because I had been stressed out about a few things.  Because she asked me this question, I had to shift my focus away from my frustrations & answer her question to me.  This was a great interruption that helped me to immediately get some better focus.  Additionally, even though we were in a potentially dangerous situation, she was super calm, reassuring & stable.  Frankly, I don’t think she knew that I was upset or rattled.  Nevertheless, she  was very soothing & seemed to diffuse some of my anxities.  Finally, as I walked away from her she was graceful & encouraged me to have a great evening.

I don’t think that this lady has any idea that God used her to help settle my nerves, but its interesting how just some small exchanges with various people can make big differences in our outlooks & behaviors.  Here are a few concluding happy thoughts:

  • look around for some good things – God always has something good to find when we look for it
  • it seems to me that when you encourage & say nice things to others that you will invariably be blessed as well
  • look up – David in Psalms always encouraged himself with the directive to put his trust in God, Who is indeed trustworthy :)n
