It’s Not Working!!!

And it’s MASSIVELY FRUSTRATING!!!!
When my car isn’t working, it’s frustrating but I can usually figure out a work around – uber, catching a ride wth a friend or rescheduling an appointment. But sometimes there’s no work around & whatever isn’t working can turn into a meltdown crisis.
I just experienced this with s Skype interview I was scheduled to do & im still in the residual frustration fumes being mad at skype, etc.
What should we do in these moments of intense frustration? The things I want to do (hit something, yell, kick a chair, not write my blog) these things aren’t beneficial. So here are some ideas that might be more constructive for you when you have a frustrating meltdown:

  • Take a deep breath – this physical action helps settle my mental disarray
  • Perspective alignment – pray & ask for the Holy Spirit to help you to have a divine alignment on your perspective
  • Use a tourniquet – don’t allow the bleeding from the frustration to spill over into other areas of your life
  • Think in terms of practice – the next time will be better 🙂

Finding Stuff

In my family, it seems like we lose things a lot. It’s one thing to lose a pen or maybe a shirt, but it’s a different story when I lose a credit card, drivers license, car title or some other such important item.
I don’t like to lose stuff. I don’t like the stress it causes, I don’t like the time spent to find what’s lost & it’s just a hassle when I lose stuff.

Sometimes I think we lose ourselves in lots of different stuff. Maybe you’ve been lost in the pursuit of being important or looking beautiful. It can be easy to get lost in the entertainment or political world & sometimes we can lose ourselves in trying to be good Christians.

Let’s be very clear that God never loses us. Indeed, we are the most found & find our greatest identity in the loving intimacy or Heavenly Father wants with us everyday! Keep being found in God’s presence!

Losing things

Seems like I’ve been losing things lately – lost my wedding ring on Sun (found it), lost a book I’ve been reading, lost a water bottle in Cambodia last week & I’m sure there are some other things I’ve lost lately that I can’t recall at the moment. Nevertheless, losing things can be mildly unsettling to very disturbing so this kind of losing adventure is never in my top 3 fun experiences.
But, we there are a few things that we absolutely MUST LOSE. We must lose:
*critical & judgmental outlooks & attitudes – Paul says in Ephesians 4 that our words should build up each other
*deception – Jesus tells us in John 14 that the Helper (Holy Spirit) will guide us into truth; following the Helper means that we must lose deception
*insecurity – knowing that we are infinitely loved without condition by the Triune God doesn’t give us space to hold onto insecurity
Any other suggestions about things we should lose?
Have an awesome Wednesday!

Recovering from setbacks

Recently, one of my friends had her purse stolen in a rather traumatic way. When I think about how her purse was stolen, it creeps me out & it could be a real setback for my friend in many different ways (credit cards, wallet, phone, etc). Here are a few helpful ideas for overcoming setbacks:
*pray first – ask God for strength, wisdom, help , . . . .
*stay in the game – sometimes when something had happens, we can pause on the sidelines for too long
*dont let your heart get poisoned with bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, etc
*ask for God’s perspective – seeing things from God’s point of view helps us to keep our thinking in a more healthy & less destructive zone
