The Masterpiece!

Have you seen or heard something that was deeply moving or thoroughly enthralling? Over the last 2weeks, my family & did a western US whirlwind road trip vacation where I experienced forests that were entirely enchanting, beaches of supreme serenity, waterfalls with endless energy & rock formations that defy human explanation. In some ways, this road trip was a day to day encounter with masterpieces of divine creation that still swim in my thoughts & mesmerize my imagination.
But here’s the greatest masterpiece of all: YOU! You have been fashioned, shaped & sculpted in the image of God & there’s no one who looks, thinks or talks like you! Because you’re God’s masterpiece & you have the breath of the Almighty in your lungs, please never settle for being a clone or repeat. One of the glorious things about a masterpiece is that it’s one of a kind & any reproduction pales when compared to the original. Be all that God has made you to be with the help of the Holy Spirit!

once upon a time

Once upon a time, there was a master painter whose works were without equal.  Whenever he had a canvas and paint available, he would create masterpieces of such magnificence that no words could be found to describe the beauty, extravagance, grace and splendor of his work.  He lived to paint and anyone who had the privilege of seeing his work was immediately captivated by his craft and talent.  One day, he found himself thoroughly engrossed in one of his paintings, so much that he found himself walking around inside the painting, limited to the world that he had painted!  As he strolled through his painting, he met the people that he had painted.  They were dressed with nice clothes and had bright smiles, but as he talked with them, he came to see that they were broken and lacked the vibrant life to which he was accustomed outside of the painting.  As he thought about this dilemma, he decided to go the extra mile and give them some of his life.  As he breathed his life on them, the individuals who received his breath became whole and well, even three dimensional!

The painter was well pleased that he could enjoy the company of his creation 🙂

People are beautiful

I like to watch people in lots of different places – starbucks, airports, grocery stores, etc. Sometimes when I watch people I’m awestruck at how beautiful & magnificent each person is. Some people have beautiful eyes or beautiful hair. Some people have rustic beauty & others are beautiful because of their regal stature. But people are beautiful – made in the image of our Creator & everywhere, they are beautiful, way beyond being broken 🙂
