Stay Focused

What you focus on is where you go. I learned this with great intensity when I took a lesson for downhill mountain bike riding. In a particularly harrowing part of the trail, our instructor kept yelling, “LOOK PAST THE CURVE!!!” A few of my classmates didn’t listen to the instructor & they hardcore crashed, flipping over the handlebars. What the instructor was yelling didn’t make sense to me, but I decided to do what he said, nonetheless. When I followed the instructions, my bike followed my focus.
Lots of times, it’s easy to focus on emergencies, crises, worries, etc. When we obsess with struggles & uncertainties, it’s easy to crash in the curve because our focus gets off of Jesus. Let’s be sure that we keep our focus & thoughts on Jesus, the author & perfectos of our faith – Hebrews 12:2!

What Bugs You?

There are things that get under my skin & there are things that BUG me. I get agitated when people tailgate me, I don’t like it when my family leaves a dirty knife on the counter & I don’t like that my car’s alarm goes off randomly. These things are annoying. But in the grand scheme of things, it BUGS me that we withhold our love because someone doesn’t believe like we do. It BUGS me that we use religious jargon to manipulate & even shame people. It BUGS me that I can sometimes be the same hypocrite that I judge someone else to be.
It doesn’t bother me that my nails haven’t been manicured in countless years. It doesn’t stress me out that I wear wool socks to keep warm in the Winter & I’m not jittery that my clothes don’t always match well 🙂

Let’s keep the Main Thing the main thing 🙂

Checked Luggage

In this new age of budget airplane travel, airlines are looking for all kinds of ways to squeeze out an extra nickel. Some airlines will serve their customers only water & require payment for anything different. I also flew an airline that charged me for some of my carry on luggage & it’s now customary to pay for one’s checked luggage on domestic flights. So I find myself carrying my luggage for almost all of my travels, to save money.

If I’m not careful, I also tend to carry my luggage with God, rather than checking my  luggage, baggage & excess weight into God’s proficient care. I’m learning to check my baggage with God more consistently & not just when I’m overwhelmed 🙂
Ps 55:22 says to cast your cares on the Lord for He cares for you. Stop carrying your luggage through life 🙂
