some thoughts on faith

What a total honor to share with my church family – can I just say that we have some of the coolest people in the world at our church?  Its rewarding to serve Jesus with them!  So on Sun, we talked about faith & I thought I’d share a few things you might want to consider in relation to faith:

Faith certainly tells us what the senses do not, but not the contrary of what they see; it is above, not against them.                        Blaise Pascal

Rom 5:1,  “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,  NKJV

Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.  ~J.R.R. Tolkien

Faith is putting all your eggs in God’s basket, then counting your blessings before they hatch.  ~Ramona C. Carroll

Rom 4:19-21,  “And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.    NKJV

In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don’t.  ~Blaise Pascal

Faith enables persons to be persons because it lets God be God.  ~Carter Lindberg

Rom 10:17, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.         NKJV

Faith can move mountains, but don’t be surprised if God hands you a shovel.  Unk author

Heb 4:2,  “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.                     NKJV

Faith makes the discords of the present the harmonies of the future.  ~Robert Collyer

James 2:16-18,  “If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.  18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”  Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.        NIV

May your faith in God grow every day!

  1. Sarah
Your sermon today gave me a new perspective on faith. I had always thought of faith as the ethereal aspect rather than hope. I am challenged by your three action points. In what areas of my life do I need faith? What actions in these areas show a lack of faith? And this is my first time to ‘blog’ as I receive a ‘faith boost’.
    Thank you

  2. Great sermon yesterday. Love the visuals. You guys need to do more human videos I think.

I do feel that you are a bit OCD with your blog header. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen like 5 different pictures this past month. LOL! I’m pretty sure it messes with my mind and I have to make sure I’m at your site every time I log on. Oh, and I’m confused… do you have email at wordpress, cause your header says sarahbowling@wordpress… so is that email?? Cause I couldn’t find that feature and I think it would be awesome to have an email account at wordpress. If its so, tell me how so i can get my own! That’d be sweet!

    Later!

    Steve.

ps. do you have an iphone or ipod touch? If not, I suggest you put that on your wishlist b/c they have an AWESOME wordpress application (for free) to blog on when you are mobile! You should sheeeck it out!

  3. yea, the blog header thing was getting on my nerves – I like this one though. As for the email address, no wordpress email – its a typo & I don’t know how to fix it. :/
As for the iphone – don’t even start talking about it bc I get lustful. 😉
I’ll give you a vote on your blog! 🙂
