Philippian shout outs

Any thoughts on the philippians stuff so far?  Anyone interested in posting their fav verse(s) from this book?  What do you sense God saying to you as you read philippians?

I get lots of things from this book, but something I’m thinking about presently, is Paul’s relationship w Epaphroditus.  This was a relationship grounded in a ministry context so it had a spiritual overtones.  When Paul says, in 2:27, “Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow.”  NIV  I think Paul is expressing some pretty intense emotions / feelings about Epaphroditus. I think this is true because it is my opinion that the deepest relationships we can form are based from a spiritual context.  Epaphroditus was sent to help Paul & be a support to him.  They shared a common spiritual platform.  I our current world, I find myself most enjoying relationships that have spiritual depth.  I can do shallow, but I think that intimacy & the spiritual nature are inter-connected.  There’s something deeply fulfilling in spiritual relationships – perhaps because they echo the desire God has for intimacy with us.

Just a thought to consider for Philippians.  🙂

  1. i fell in love with philippians back when you recommended that it was a good book to start memorizing. it’s so rich. my favorite verse is phil 1:6. it reminds that God has never expected perfection out of me. there’s so much mercy and grace in that scripture, it brings me to humility every time i really meditate on it.

  2. “I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.” (3:13-14).”

These verses really speak to where I am right now…to leave behind the way things were (or I think they should be) and press forward in what God has for me now…I love when God gives you theme verses for certain seasons!
