I’ve definitely had my share of flops, failures and screwups! When I was younger, I’d get massively embarrassed & it would take me awhile to recover. Now that I’m “older”, it’s easier to laugh at myself & put mistakes in the “practice” column ,)
I’m in the middle of a youtube series about people in the Bible who messed up. Feel free to watch this really short video about a Bible character & I’m inviting you to subscribe to my youtube channel as well! Happy viewing!
Sometimes we find ourselves running on empty. This can happen not just with finances, but sometimes we run out of energy, or we don’t have enough time, maybe our relationships feel shallow or perhaps you have more problems than solutions.
Feel free to watch & share this short video to see how Jesus provides for us!
Do you ever struggle with distractions or competing priorities? There are loads of things in our world that demand our attention, from the pop-ups that happen on our Facebook feed to the random text message advertising some random product. So how do we deal with these distractions? And what about competing priorities? Here are some helpful thoughts that you could pass along to your friends / family as well 🙂
When I go to the grocery store, I expect to find groceries & when I go to my health club, I expect to find weight machines & workout stuff. So people come to church & expect to find Jesus, but here’s an interesting exception for you to consider:
When do we look for Jesus? And what do we expect to find, when we experience Him? It seems to me that genuine Jesus is irresistible but religious Jesus isn’t nearly as riveting nor attractive. Here’s something short & interesting when you thinking about looking for Jesus:
Resurrection is just around the corner & I’m SO EXCITED!!!! And the Biblical events of this week all point to Easter, a time of celebrating life triumphing over death. As Jesus walked through this week, He was intentional to facilitate connection, defy religious traditions & ground His disciples in their relationship w Him.
Please take a quick moment to watch & share this video with your friends!
Traveling can be lots of fun – an adventure & opportunity to grow. New experiences, people & cultures can help us see things from different perspectives & learn new ways of doing things / communicating.
Here’s a quick video that could be helpful for blending Jesus with traveling 🙂
When you go to new places, it’s helpful to have clear directions because vague is the road to lost. So when we follow God, we like to have clarity. Watch this video for some help with clear directions:
There’s lots of fun information, websites & youtube videos on how to do stuff. Indeed, one of my children considered themselves to be an expert with turkey brining having watched a few instructional videos on youtube. Alas, this child’s turkey brining efforts were less than expert on their first effort, even though this child was highly convinced about their proficiency. They made it abundantly clear that my help wasn’t needed nor appreciated – until the disaster was in full execution mode.
This is also what I sense the Holy Spirit telling me. Rather than trying to Do It Myself (DIM), it would be a brighter decision to ask for Divine Help. This means I’m deciding to be open for the Holy Spirit to be my Help, Guide, Truth, Wisdom, Strength, Comfort, . . . .
A few years ago, there were some cute movies, Finding Nemo & Finding Dory. Each movie was about the long search to find a missing son & a beloved friend. When I think about finding Jesus, I’m encouraged that Jesus is accessible throughout every day! Check out this video:
Now that Thanksgiving is in the rear view mirror, Christmas is ready to take center stage. And with Christmas , come all the associated activities: decorating, parties, concerts, shopping, cookies, wrapping, etc. In the midst of the hub bub, let’s keep our hearts & focus attentive to Jesus. He’s a really quick video that could help you keep your focus on Jesus throughout this holiday season:
I’m trying my hand at making fruitcake, since were on the cusp of the holiday season. Most people don’t like fruit cake, but my husband says that’s because they haven’t had “good fruitcake”. So we’ll see how this goes.
In the meantime, take a quick minute to watch this short clip about fruits & gifts – maybe something helpful for the holidays 🙂
I seriously want your feedback!! Every Christmas season, I do a blog series about looking for Jesus & I post goofy pictures of baby Jesus in various settings, to reinforce the reminder to look for Jesus in the busy-ness of the Holidays.
So where would you like to see Jesus in the upcoming Holidays? Please give me your suggestions in the comments below, on FB, twitter, etc. Last year, I took Jesus to the ICU at a local hospital, He drove with me in my car (Jesus take the wheel), I perched Him on a park bench & did lots of other creative things. So what would you suggest for me to do this year, in the theme of looking for Jesus?
Our church building is in the process of moving locations & it’s an interesting experience living in this “half-way between” place. I feel like I’m in limbo a little bit because of the new place not being entirely settled & some of my stuff is still in the old place. Furthermore, I have lots of memories associated with the old building & no memories or notable experiences yet with the new building. We are also still having services in the old building, but the new building now houses all of our offices, so that’s where we do the day to day work during the weekdays.
This reminds me of what Paul says in 2Cor 5:17 about being in Christ & a new creature with the old things having passed away and new things have come. There are times and experiences when I find myself living in my old, flesh nature, even though I know in my heart that I’m a new creation in Christ. Let’s continue to move into and occupy our new nature that Jesus has purchased for us. Here are a few possibly helpful ideas to consider:
don’t bring the old furnishings to the new creation: stuff that’s broken & dysfunctional doesn’t need to continue in our new nature living.
celebrate and embrace: be sure to celebrate & honor the past, but wholly & fully embrace the new creation / nature that Jesus has for you now!
keep moving into the new creation: there were a few weeks when I procrastinated moving stuff out of the old building for various reasons. From this lesson, I’m learning that it’s important to keep looking & moving toward the new creation that Jesus has made me to be.
Feel free to pass this along to your friends / family who are navigating this journey to be more & more like Jesus!
PS – here’s my latest youtube video that’s short, fun & encouraging!
What to pray when you don’t know what to pray. Do you have those times when you’re lost for words? Maybe life has just piled up too deep, the demands are too plenteous & the stresses seem infinite. Sometimes when we go through grief, words can seem mechanical or elusive.
When you don’t know what or how to pray, here’s a good suggestion:
